GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Camp Bighorn is an outdoor adventure camp that seeks to embody the love of Jesus and develop Christ-honoring leaders. Bighorn’s core values are based on Matthew 22:37-39, which include loving God and loving others. The Journey Resident Assistant will provide direct leadership to the students, facilitate community life and participate in all adventures with the students. This person will help Journey and Bighorn staff facilitate class times and adventures and will assist the Journey Director(s) with other details as needed. This will be a full-time, volunteer position at Bighorn.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Personal Relationship with Jesus
- Desire to invest in Camp Bighorn and the Journey program
- Flexible, willing to learn
- Commitment to resolve conflict with grace
- Use Camp Bighorn’s communication tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Servant’s heart
- 1-3 years experience in ministry
- 1-3 years discipleship experience
- Ability to drive a 15 passenger van

JOURNEY PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist in the discipleship and spiritual formation of Journey students
- Build healthy relationships and guide others in building healthy relationships
- Participate in programmed events and facilitate discussion and debriefs
- Lead devos on a rotating basis
- Assist with planning and implementing special activities on evenings and weekends
- Attend Journey staff meetings

JOURNEY RESIDENT ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

- Guide students through weekly schedules, work study duties, mentor time, devo’s, etc.
- Live in the dorms with students
- Provide authority and give leadership for students when other Journey Staff are not around
- Have regular one-on-one meetings with the students in your care
- Address conflict and guide students through resolving their conflicts

GENERAL CAMP BIGHORN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the Bighorn Community you will be expected to:
- Engage in regular times of Scripture reading and prayer
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, devos, ongoing trainings, and occasional retreats
- Invest in relationships with the staff, campers, students, and interns
- Maintain a clean professional appearance when on site at Camp Bighorn
- Participate in Turnaround, dishes, kitchen help, retreat hosting, and programming
- Drive a 15-passenger van for programmed events, as needed
- Support Raise a stipend to cover personal expenses not covered by Camp Bighorn
- Assist Branch Directors with other projects as needed
- Submit to the leadership of the Executive and Journey Directors
- Help with programming needs as needed and availability allows
