Why we're here

Camp Bighorn has always been a place of challenge, adventure and discovery. Working here was a way we could use our giftings to enable others to do the same. As Executive Directors, we shape the vision of where Bighorn is heading, encourage and equip the staff team, and evaluate the organization to keep it on mission!

Background

Brian and Beth both grew up in the Pacific Northwest and met in high school while on a mission trip in Western Europe. They have always done life and ministry together and enjoy seeing the unique attributes that individuals bring to the table! Brian started out as a youth pastor, and after three years, they transitioned to working together with the same mission organization where they met in high school. Brian and Beth spent their summers leading mission trips throughout the world and later started a gap year school focused on missions, leadership and discipleship in Everett, WA.

Brian's story with Camp Bighorn started in 2004, and 14 years later they came back to join staff and serve as the Executive Directors.

Brian Meaden

Executive Director

I received a B.A. of Ministry from Prairie Bible College, am a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and have also completed the Swift Water Rescue Technician course. I have been involved with youth development and leadership training since 2006. I enjoy using experiential education and wilderness settings to better understand the world, individuals and Jesus' story.

Fun Fact

I am an ultra-marathon runner and completed my first 50 mile run in 2019!

Beth Meaden

Executive Director / Wild Events Coordinator

I have a B.S. in Business Management and Communication, and am also Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) certified. Before working at Bighorn, I spent 10 years working for a mission organization, leading overseas mission trips for high school students and later a gap-year school for college-age students. I love leading small groups, rock climbing, distance running, camping and hiking. Summer is my preferred season, and I can't spend enough time outside!

Fun Fact

Bethany started collecting children's books when she was 20, and many are still her favorite books to read today.

Family

We have two little boys, Jude and Kael, who both love to run around explore the wild.
